Redefining last-mile delivery in Africa

Africa's motorcycle fleet is projected to reach 55 million by 2030 – a $15.5 billion opportunity. But petrol-powered motorcycles are a major source of air pollution and carbon emissions, and rising fuel costs are squeezing the commercial drivers who rely on them.

ARC Ride is an electric mobility platform accelerating the transition from petrol motorcycles to electric transport across African cities. Founded in 2020, the company operates a battery-swapping network that allows riders to exchange depleted batteries for fully charged ones across Nairobi. The platform reduces fuel costs and emissions while expanding income opportunities for riders across Nairobi and beyond.

“ARC Ride’s work in building physical infrastructure at scale and their progress on interoperability gives us real conviction that they can lead the region's shift to electric two-wheelers.”
